TCM Ophthalmology
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) ophthalmology follows the principle of “treating the disease before it occurs”, which includes both preventive measures and preventing the progression of existing diseases. Using the foundational theories of TCM, a differentiated treatment approach is applied, creating personalized treatment plans. Traditional TCM external therapies are utilized to treat eye diseases, achieving good results.

Building upon traditional acupuncture, we have expanded the scope of acupuncture treatments by introducing fire needle moxibustion, plum blossom needle therapy, bloodletting, eye massage, gua sha for the eyes, auricular acupuncture with pressure beads, and other specialized therapies. These treatments are based on acupuncture meridian theory, and personalized treatment plans are developed according to the patient’s condition. By fully utilizing the characteristics of each treatment, different methods are applied to different patients, not only improving efficacy but also offering more comprehensive treatment for various eye diseases. These treatments mainly target dry eyes, eye fatigue, optic nerve atrophy, glaucoma, paralytic strabismus, myopia and amblyopia in adolescents, and ischemic optic neuropathy.
Additionally, equipment like atomized fumigation devices is introduced to work alongside herbal treatments based on TCM principles, using physical methods to treat various external eye diseases such as dry eyes, eye fatigue, and meibomian gland dysfunction, with noticeable results.
The development of these specialized TCM ophthalmology services provides comprehensive protection for the health of the eyes, which are considered the windows to the soul, ensuring better eye health for the public.
